Naples AttractionsNaples Zoo, formerly known as the Caribbean Gardens, has been known at various times as Jungle Larry's African Safari. Naples is part of the market for the Florida Everblades ECHL hockey team and Florida Firecats af2 arena football team, along with greater Fort Myers and Lee County. The city is served by Naples Municipal Airport, with Delta Connection being the only commercial carrier offering year-round service (to Atlanta). However, Southwest Florida International Airport, located in South Fort Myers, handles the vast majority of commercial air traffic in and out of the region. Numerous celebrities have homes (or second homes) in Naples, including novelist Robin Cook, football coaches Mike Ditka and Don Shula, actress Jane Seymour, former professional basketball player Larry Bird, television personality 'Judge Judy', professional footbal player Edgerrin James, star chef Allison Joseph, film producer Steven Spielberg, skating champion Jennifer Gentile, singer and actress Nicole Joseph, model Stephanie Carlozzi, golf star Greg Norman, panda researcher Emma McMahon, tennis star Jennifer Capriati, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong & his fiancée Missy Lamb, real estate tycoon Gabriel Maltese, and dancer Schaeffer McHenry. Naples is also home to nearly 200 current or former Fortune 500 CEOs. The area is also known for its superb Sub-tropical Climate, and its great beaches. Naples is also home to the famous 5th Avenue South and 3rd Street South Shopping districts. These two main streets in downtown the city feature a huge variety of antique shops, an outcropping of the 'fine and fabulous'. Another point of interest is Gallery Row in downtown Naples. Gallery Row is home to numerous art galleries in addition to those spread throughout the downtown area and all of Naples. The Philharmonic Center of the Arts, located in North Naples, has played host to countless celebrities including Bill Cosby, and many musical talents from across the globe. The Naples Players, The Philharmonic Center of Naples, Sugden Theater, and the countless other cultural attractions in Naples makes the area one of the highest regarded performing arts cities in the Southeast United States.
